Frequently Asked Questions
Everything students ask before their first class, grouped below.
About the courses
What exactly is included in each course?
Family Safety Saturday includes the worksheet, snacks and take-home cards; Fundamentals includes loaner gear, weekly theme notes and an end-of-course review; True North includes three private hours, a training shirt and a programme completion letter — see Courses for full detail.
Where do classes take place?
All classes run from our training hall at Unit 50 2866 Pembina Hwy, Winnipeg, MB R3T 2J1 in Winnipeg.
Do I need my own gear?
Fundamentals students can use loaner gear; bring comfortable clothing to any first session. True North students who prefer their own gear are welcome to use it.
How long does each course run?
Family Safety Saturday is a single four-hour day; Fundamentals runs ten weeks with two sessions a week; True North runs 26 weeks, also twice a week.
Process & scheduling
How do I start?
Send a message through the form on our home page naming the course you want. We reply within one business day with the next available date.
What happens after I send a message?
We confirm the next intake date, flag any gear to bring, and answer any questions about which course fits best.
How far ahead should I book?
Family Safety Saturday dates fill a few weeks out; Fundamentals and True North start on fixed intakes, so booking a few weeks before the next start date is a safe plan.
Pricing & payment
What do the prices include?
Each price covers the full course and everything listed under "what's included" on the Courses page; nothing is added later without being discussed with you first.
Can I get a refund if my plans change?
Yes, within the windows described in our Payment & Refund Policy and the longer Refunds & Cancellation page.
Can I cancel or reschedule a booked session?
Our Cancellation Policy and Booking Terms cover rescheduling and missed sessions in detail.

What to bring
Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing works for every course. Fundamentals students can use our loaner gear for the first few weeks while deciding whether to bring their own; True North students generally have their own by that point. None of it needs to be specialist or expensive — the priority is being able to move freely.
- Comfortable athletic clothing and flat indoor shoes or bare feet on the mats
- A water bottle — the hall has a refill station
- A towel for warmer evening sessions
- Any loaner gear issued at your first Fundamentals session
