Self-defense courses built like a steady bearing, not a sprint.
Kettlewind teaches awareness, movement and calm de-escalation to households, beginners and returning students across Winnipeg. No belts to chase for their own sake — just a clear sense of which way to move when conditions shift.
The offer, by quadrant
Three courses, one shared method. Pick the one that matches your household or your own pace.
A relaxed half-day for households to learn together: awareness when out as a family, agreeing on meeting points, calm ways to say no and a couple of simple releases practised in pairs.
DetailsTen weeks covering stance, footwork, releases, striking basics and getting up from the ground, with a different awareness theme for each week.
DetailsA six-month programme for learners who want structure and depth: combinations, ground movement, scenario rehearsals and monthly discussions on everyday awareness.
DetailsWho teaches the courses
Instruction grounded in recognised taekwondo and self-defense curricula, adapted for everyday awareness rather than competition.
Small class sizes so every student gets corrected individually, not just shown a demonstration from the front.
A single Winnipeg training hall, open Monday to Saturday, with gear available to borrow for Fundamentals students.
Instructors walk the floor during every drill, so a correction lands before a habit sets in rather than after.

About the prices shown
Each price covers the full course as described, including the listed inclusions. Family Safety Saturday is billed per household rather than per person. If a household has a scheduling conflict, rescheduling into another Saturday date is handled directly — see our Booking Terms for the full detail, and our Refunds & Cancellation page for anything paid in advance.
What these courses are not
We are not a regulated security or law-enforcement training provider, and nothing taught here substitutes for professional risk advice.
Courses are not a competitive sparring circuit; there are no tournaments or ranking ladders attached to any session.
What is not included
Uniforms beyond the included training shirt in True North, transportation, and personal protective gear for students who prefer their own are not part of any listed price. Loaner gear covers the basics for Fundamentals; households may bring their own mats or towels to Family Safety Saturday if preferred.
